We know it’s quite a mouthful to take, it’s a long name for a very special puppet. A Wood Awakening greets us with a golden luster. Capturing the details we know and love from the iconic piece, join the chill-out on his sculpted porcelain pillow finished in white with gold trimmings. Contemporary in style but losing none of his cheekiness.

How Are Porcelain Figurines Made?

A plaster mold is made from the sculpt of the figurine. To make sure that details are properly captured, the sculpt can sometimes be subdivided into parts to create multiple molds for production. Porcelain clay is poured into the molds and allowed to set, once the figurine is ready to be removed from the mold, it is gently tapped free.

All components are assembled and traces of the mold are smoothed away. It is then allowed to air dry before firing begins, if moisture is present during the firing process the figurine will shatter in the kiln. During firing, vitrification occurs, changing the color and consistency of the clay, creating the hardened porcelain figurine.

The next step is to polish the figurine to give the piece a smooth finish, making it easier for the paint to be applied after. The porcelain figurine goes through a second firing to affix the pigments permanently to the porcelain.

Caring For Your Porcelain Figurine

Porcelain is naturally a hardy material - it’s heat resistant, long-lasting, and hard-wearing. This means A Wood Awakening Chill-Out: Porcelain by Juce Gace (Gold Chrome Edition) will be with you for a long time. That said, porcelain can crack and sometimes chip when mishandled so a level of care should be taken when handling your figurine (we always encourage a level of care when you handle any type of art collectible).

The material’s durability makes it easy to clean. You’re probably familiar with porcelain kitchenware and cleaning it is as simple as putting it into a dishwasher. We don’t however recommend doing so with A Wood Awakening Chill-Out: Porcelain by Juce Gace (Gold Chrome Edition).

To protect the electroplated finish of the figurine, use a damp cloth to gently wipe him down in a circular motion. Avoid harsh cleaners, rough scrubbing, or soaking for a long time. A microfibre cloth is handy in keeping dust off your figurine and for daily wipe downs.
